Review & GIVEAWAY: "Beautiful Failure" by Mariah Cole

Title: Beautiful Failure
Author: Mariah Cole
Genre: New Adult Romance
Hosted by: Mary Elizabeth’s Crazy Book Obsession

If you're looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life--a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that'll tell you how "broken" she is, STOP. Don't read another word of this.

I'm not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I'm not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I've been fired from every job I've ever taken, and I've never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, "No, Emerald--You're great and you are good at something!" but I don't. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother's dying words to me were "You're going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing."

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me--one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother's words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He's the first man who's ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he's wasting his time.

I'm not broken. I don't need to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine being a beautiful failure...

She's many things: Emerald, Raven, and Autumn.

She's the image of her mother.

What she isn't is...A Beautiful Nothing.

Girls want to be her and guys want to be with her. She was taught from a young age that it's better to be the prettiest in the room than the smartest. Emerald's life has been spent finding how people can benefit her, which are the better prospects to be a "sponsor", and to get away clean before emotions can get involved.

That's brought her to where she is now. Living with her grandparents in AL, trying to find a way out of Blythe. She has dreams and aspirations, but no way to get past herself and find her way to them. When she meets Carter and gets a job at the Phoenix her life is in for big changes.

Could her mother have had it wrong all along?

This is a riveting book. A true look at a life less traveled. How does a person deal with being brought up by a high paid escort and introduced to sex, drugs, and alcohol at a young age? How could you deal with so many people who only have their best interests at heart? No thought of how it will affect someone else?

Emerald is beautiful on the outside, tough as nails via persona, yet incredibly scarred on the inside. She guards insecurities that she doesn't realize she has. They were inherited from her mother. She changes so much from the beginning of the book to the end. It is a complete 360* turn, not just a 180. As she has fully evolved.

Carter is the perfect Southern gentleman. He's gorgeous, considerate, rich, and not lacking in any of the scenes. The question is, is he enough? Enough to break a carefully planned wall? Enough to make The Queen Bitch feel?

The characters in this story are amazing. The grandparents are out to save souls. The ladies of the Phoenix are tending a souls desires. Carter just wants to know what is in Emerald's soul and how it works. Emerald seems to be trying to find out if she still possess a soul or cares.

I finished this book quickly. A days time to be exact, devouring page to page. The ending was not what I was expecting at all and I can not wait until the next book in the series "Beautiful Temptation" is released.

This is a 5 star read.
Sure to be a 5 star series.
It will leave you with your jaw dropped and wishing the next book was out!
