Review: "Broken World" & "Broken Beauty" by Lizzy Ford

Broken World Book #2 of Broken Beauty Novellas
A confrontation is brewing …

Mia realizes the aftermath of her rape is not over when she is rocked by another challenge, one that will put her publicly at odds with her father, a U.S. Senator who has made her the poster child for his re-election. But the public face he wants her to wear can’t be further from who she is inside.

The latest rape victim is expected to die soon, and only Mia can identify the attackers. With pressure from the police to come forward, Mia is distraught when her father forbids her from speaking out.

She is surprised to discover new allies in her siblings, who break ranks with her father to support her. But even they have their own agenda.

Before Mia turns eighteen, she’ll face the ultimate choice: betraying her family or her conscience.
Broken World picks up right where Broken Beauty left off. Mia is confused as to what she should do. She doesn't know whether to tell who raped her. She now knows she's pregnant and doesn't know how to handle the unwanted pregnancy. She is about to find out who is really standing beside her and who is standing behind her ready to stab her in the back.
Everytime she thinks things may be looking up, something awakens her to the truth. In a family where everyone has their own agenda, Mia will finally start to realize she just may need her own. She suddenly will be offered things that she wanted, but finds she may no longer want them. Looking in the mirror stands a beautiful woman, but who is she? Why now?
In a few weeks everything will change. She will be 18, an adult. Out of her father's reach, but does that mean out of his house? The story isn't concluded at the end of Broken World. It's really just beginning. We have some answers, but are still left with many questions.
Will justice be served?
Will her secret be let out?
What is the family secret that Chris will finally tell her?
Broken World is a 5 star book,
in a dramatic 5 start series.
The next book can't come out soon enough.

Broken Beauty Book #1 in the Broken Beauty Novellas
**Contains graphic content and the sensitive topic of rape and its aftermath. Not intended for teens under the age of 18.**
Sometimes bad things happen to beautiful people.
When socialite party girl Mia Abbott-Renou wakes up in a garden she has little recall of the previous night -- except that she is naked...hurt...terrified. Not only has she been raped, but she knows one of her assailants: the son of a wealthy politician who happens to be her own father’s political ally.
Mia wants and needs justice. Except this privileged boy has an alibi and her father forbids her from going to the police. It’s a critical election year, one that his party might lose if his image as a doting father is soured due to Mia being labeled a lush or worse, promiscuous.
Devastated at not having the support of her family, Mia finds herself in a tug-of-war with her conscience over what to do, especially since she can’t remember exactly what happened that night. Worse, the men who attacked her have hurt several other girls, and Mia may be the key to stopping them.
Mia tries to forget, until the unthinkable happens, and she’s left reeling once again, faced with a new challenge that will force her to take more control of her life.

Mia is an innocent girl in a corrupt world. Tired of the land of fundraisers and brown nosing she decides to go to a party instead. She's made the worst decision of her life. That night everything changes.

 Innocence is lost.

 Safety is an illusion.

When bad things happen, we find out who we can rely on and who we can trust. Sometimes our worst fears are cemented and we find out who we matter to. What is done can never be undone. Her future tattered. Left to pick up the pieces and she knows not about doing so.

Will justice prevail?

Is there justice at all?

If you have been through rape or know someone who has this book may read all too familiar. Mia's struggles are so emotional I felt like crying for her. Not only does she go through all of the physical and emotional torture, but she's being let down by all she should be able to rely on.  She's a child doing her best to bring up herself while her father worries about his career and her mother struggles with the bottle. The ending of the book will leave you with your heart in your throat and the breath from your lungs.

This is a 5 star book.
A sensitive topic, but delivered flawlessly.
