When Charlotte Murphy escapes from the ruthless serial rapist and killer, Loverboy, she finds herself completely lost and scared to death. Lost, frightened, recovering, and in the sights of a brutal killer. In a most odd but clever tactic from the police, they assign Charlie 24/7 live-in protection; a move that is supposed to comfort her and make healing easier. Somehow, despite the odds, Charlie finds a refuge in officer Nick Andrews and in his arms she finds the strength to heal and the courage to move on with life. Nick finds everything that he wasn't looking for in Charlie’s eyes and a fight against a killer that becomes personal.
Sometimes we make decision that will forever haunt us. The tiniest thing that puts us in harms way. That's what happened on the night Charlie decided to walk through Central Park on her way home from an out of control party. It's a decision that she will forever regret.
She was supposed to be victim number six, but fought and escaped. There are no leads to the case. She barely remembers what happened. Only her broken and beaten body shows the tale. When the NYPD puts Nick Andrews as her body guard, she thinks they are crazy. She should have a woman.
The more she gets to know Nick the more she agrees with their decision. As the victim and the protector continue to get close, the lines become blurry and the case is going cold. When LoverBoy decides to torment her, it just may be the lead they need to crack the case.
This story had so many twists! You definitely will not get bored with this book. Just when you think you've found out everything, BAM! there's more info and another turn of the case. This isn't just a love story, it's full of suspense and emotion as Charlie recovers from her horrible ordeal.
This book is 5 stars and beyond.
It takes a hard situation and subject and does a beautiful job of turning it into a story.
Only a truly talented author could write about rape and assault and deliver it in such a fashion.
