Synopsis
Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks.

Review

This is the first book I have read in the series. I think it can be read as a stand alone just fine. There were no confusing area's where I didn't know what was going on. It gives plenty of information as to why things are happening.

Liam has had a life full of hell. He lived his life in foster homes and practically raised his foster sister. When there last home takes a bad turn, they become part of the Devil's Jacks. It's the decision he made that changed his life and he'll live and die by it.

Em is beyond tired of her dad's over-protectiveness. She's the Reaper's princess and her dad would love to keep her safe in a gilded cage. It's made her easy prey when the object of her desires is more loyal to her dad than to her.

The characters in the book are full of life. They're a rough bunch that aren't afraid to tell it like it is. They'll die protecting what is theirs and you couldn't ask for a more loyal bunch of friends and family. I like how the storyline evolved and that it was told from the different angles. It not only allowed us to see what was going on in the relationship, but also what was happening with the MC conflict.

I give this book four stars. It's the first I've read from the author, but won't be last. If you want a book full of MC life, danger, love, and thrills this is it for you. There are plenty of hot scenes and Liam & Em know how to light up a page. The Reaper's or the Jack's? I'm not sure which group is my favorite.
