BOOK BLURB / SYNOPSIS
After losing Nate, trusting her heart to love again seems impossible for Ella. In spite of her family’s desire that she move on with her life, it’s the last thing she wants...especially since she has a connection to Nate’s ghost.
Ethan knows about grief. Not only does he counsel people suffering from loss, he’s also lost a loved one. When he meets Ella, he makes it his mission to heal her broken heart. With time the boundary between patient and doctor blurs as Ethan finds himself falling in love. Yet he must suppress his feelings for fear of crossing a line that is based on trust.
Being without Ella while in Afghanistan was hard. Having to say goodbye again is even worse. Although now a ghost, Nate can still make Ella happy when he visits. Their time together is precious, yet fleeting. Although being with Ella again is life’s sweetest gifts, Nate is desperate to heal her troubled mind and broken heart.
An unbreakable bond...
When Ella becomes increasingly reckless and sets off on a dangerous journey into the rugged wilderness, it’s up to both Nate and Ethan to find her. One man represents her past and one her future. One will use his marine training and the other his knowledge of psychology to keep Ella safe and help her...Trust.

Ella is at a crossroads and knows the decision she makes now will change everything. She's in the place Nate will always exist for her and where things changed with Ethan. She's torn between the love she had and the future that's in her grasp. As she walks along the trails the sun starts to set and she is on trails she's never been on before. She's closed off to both of the men in her heart. She wants only her to make the decision. It's a tough one to make, not knowing if she would be giving up Nate forever and what Ethan feels.
Nate only wants Ella to be happy. That's all he's ever wanted. As much as it kills him to see Ella with another man, he knows that she'll need to move on in order to let him go and live her life. He is a stand-up guy and knows how to put others first. He's my favorite character, if only he weren't a ghost. This book shows a little more as to what it is about Nate that made his and Ella's relationship so special. They had fun with their passion and loved each other fiercely. It's the type of relationship that doesn't happen often.
Ethan is at odds with himself. He's crossed the professional line and isn't sure how to come to terms with that. He knows that Ella is strong though and that while everyone else thinks Ella is going crazy that she is coping well with all that has happened. The problem is how does he guard his heart from losing someone he loves again? Does she really feel anything for him or will it always be Nate? I felt SO bad for Ethan in this book. He goes through so much and I began to wonder if it was for nothing. We knows Ella has feelings for him, but at times a lesser man would have thrown in the towel.
This book is full of what if's. I wasn't sure who Ella was going to choose until the end. There is enough danger in it that I wondered if she would be able to choose at all. Ella and Ethan made it through more than one close call. That made the book more suspenseful and added so much to the story. I loved the playfulness that Ella and Nate showed at times. It was a side we didn't see in the first book. Where Believe was full of despair, this book was lighter. Ella is in more control in Trust. She's learning to make it on her own.
I give this book 5 stars. The writing flows wonderfully. The story evolves with many twist and turns as if your on the hiking trail with them. It was a short read that I was able to enjoy in one night. I loved how the ending came about. The only problem for me is that it ended. I'd love to see what the future holds for Ella and *******. I loved Nate with all my heart and the tragedy of losing him became somehow manageable when his ghost visited me. I never would have believed, if it hadn’t happened so many times. But it’s real. It’s possible for me to still be with Nate -- even if nobody else believes me.
Lily things I’m nuts, which is why she was so in favor of my being counseled by Ethan. If my work hadn’t insisted, I would never have agreed to it. And if I had known that being near Ethan would lead to even more heart ache, well...
At least he doesn’t make me feel as if I’m going crazy for saying that I can see Nate. He’s been through something this side of horrible as well. Maybe that’s why he’s the only one who doesn’t look at me with pity. Yeah, I could fall for him.
But in doing so, I would lose Nate. I just know it. I lose a bit of him every day and it just tears me apart to betray his memory, even when he tells me to go on with my life. The only way to figure out this mess of my life is to spend time away from both of them. So that’s just what I’m going to do. Looking out into the distance, I can see the high peaks of these mountains that encompass the National Parks Recreation Area. They extend for miles from inland valleys, up and over the passes, to the ocean shore. One could spend hours and days, weeks and months, and never have the chance to explore every inch of them. It was a perfect escape.
