Review: "Lead" by Kylie Scott

Lead (Stage Dive #3)
by Kylie Scott

Stay up all night with the sexy rockers in Stage Dive, the epic New Adult series from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, author of Lick and Play.
As the lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, whether it's booze, drugs, or women. However, when a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call about his life and lands him in rehab, he finds himself with Lena, a new assistant to keep him out of trouble.

Lena's not willing to take any crap from the sexy rocker and is determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry. But when Jimmy pushes her too far and Lena leaves, he realizes that he may just have lost the best thing that ever happened to him.

Review

Lena is working for an obnoxious boss as a temp in the music business. When their personalities clash and she stands up to him, she doesn't realize there's an audience. It just so happens to be the stalk worthy band Stage Dive. When they like her bluntness they offer her a job as a sober companion for their lead singer Jimmy
.
It's amazing how this story builds up their relationship. The sexual tension between Lena and Jimmy is palpable from the beginning. Everyone seems to know what's happening, but Lena and Jimmy as they play the game of Deny, Deny, Deny. The closeness that they build as a pair and also that Lena builds with the band is fantastic. I love how the details are written into the book. I felt the emotions as if I were there while it was happening.

This read doesn't just give you romance. It's full of family drama, everyone has their family problems and these ones are big. The friendship is truly a case of friends being the family you've chosen for yourself. The characters are sarcastic, witty, and full of fun. Between Mal and his quickness with the jokes, Ev's ability to calm things down, and the hormonal storm that Jimmy & Lena bring this book is full of life.

I gladly give this book 5 stars. This is the first book I've read, by this author and in this series, which I have to remedy quickly. Kylie Scott is a very talented writer. It's not often an author can build up tension like this. So often the release is given quickly and the romance take over the story. In "Lead" it's held back and brings so much more to the relationship of these lovable characters.
